This Week in Sports
Things I liked:
Things I didn't like:
Things that surprised me:
Unsolicited update - I am now 35 days into my 90 day yoga challenge. It's getting tough to go every single day. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it...
- Blake Griffin won the NBA Dunk Contest on Sunday. No chance anyone else could have won. He won before he stepped on the court.
- Serge Ibaka's Toy dunk:
- JaVale McGee's double dunk:
- In his second ever Sprint Cup race, Trevor Bayne (one day after his 20th birthday) won the Daytona 500. He's not even in the Sprint Cup. He's now the youngest driver ever to win a Daytona 500. He's so young and so new, in fact, that he missed the turn for Victory Lane. Well, now he knows where it is for next time!
Things I didn't like:
- Kobe Bryant won the NBA All Star game MVP. Nevermind that Kevin Durant arguably played better than him. The West beat the East 148-143. Defense obviously not necessary. What is necessary? Jacking yourself off while scoring as many points as possible.
- The top four teams in college basketball all lost this weekend. Weak.

Fist Pump Friday: Florence & the Machine - The Dog Days Are Over
This song is great and I love that Kendall Glover rocked out on Live to Dance with it as well (little AZ love there.)
This week while you enjoy some fist pumping beats . . . enjoy a great performance by a little lady that isn't scared to do what she loves and go for it all.
Kendall, Bruonis and Arizona is proud of you.

Woman of the Week: Lucille Ball
WOMAN OF THE WEEK
LUCILLE BALL
1911 - 1989
As I was looking for pictures of Lucille I realized how much I love her facial expressions and how timeless her humor is. I still watch I Love Lucy episodes and almost cry because I am laughing so hard. She had some hurdles to overcome to become a successful actress, though when CBS made them take a pay cut to stay in L.A. and film she negotiated to keep the rights to all the film shot. She made millions off of rerun royalties. So not only was she funny, she was an intelligent business woman.

Quick and Easy Workout
I get Women's Health Articles emailed to me otherwise I would never have time to remember to go to their website let alone read the articles. Today was a short but still challenging workout check it out by clicking the image it will re-direct you to their site so you can see the workout in detail.
I don't know anyone who works out in a sports bra in public. So make sure to check out shop.bruonis.com to get a killer Tee to rock at the gym.

This Week in Sports
Things I liked:
Things I didn't like:
Things that surprised me:
If I had a "yeah, right" category, this would go there. Lance Armstrong has retired again. Has Brett Favre retired yet this year?
- Kansas, who was ranted #1 in college basketball, lost (bad) to Kansas State 84-68
- The Cavaliers broke their 26 game losing streak by beating the Wizards 115-100
- Tiger was fined by the European tour for spitting on the green.
Things I didn't like:
- Not sure if I mentioned last week that Christina Aguilara messed up the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, but in case I didn't: Christina Aguilara messed up the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
Things that surprised me:
- Yankee's pitcher, Andy Pettitte retired. Yes, I know this is old news.

Fist Pump Friday
This weekend is Valentine's Day weekend, so we're going to slow it down a bit and feature a couple love songs.
The first is Usher, Nice & Slow. He's got the moves on and off the dance floor and it was tough picking between Nice & Slow, U Got It Bad and You Make Me Wanna. Though we had to go with Nice & Slow because I would put money down that everyone knows every single lyric.
The second love song is not really a love song per say, but Jack Johnson knows how to make hanging out with someone incredibly sexy. Jack if you ever need someone to make Banana Pancakes with . . . I know a couple ladies that would take you up on it.
And the third video is Something 'Bout a Woman by Lady Antebellum. The thing I love about this song is it brings up all the emotions you feel when you are so head over heels for someone and how they make you want to be a better person.

Woman of the Week: Brandi Chastain
WOMAN OF THE WEEK
BRANDI CHASTAIN
1968 - LIVING
I bet you were starting to think I only featured women from back in the day . . . well hopefully you will be pleasently surprised with this week's feature. Brandi Chastain who most of you know plays professional soccer and is famous for taking her shirt off after scoring the fifth kick in the Women's World Cup and beating China.
Though it was a "moment of insanity" it pushed our society to look at women athletes a little differently. It wasn't right or wrong just something no other woman had done before. So celebrate your life and have your "moments of insanity" it might just change the world.

Pump Up the Volume
As long as I can remember I have loved sports. As a kid growing up, I vividly remember going to different sporting events with my Dad and all the fun we had. The most memorable time for me was when my parents surprised me with tickets to go see the US Woman's National Soccer Team play in the 1996 Olympics! I was in awe and to this day one of the things I remember most a certain song they played while warming up for each game. Crazy right?! My point is not only is music powerful and memorable but music and exercise go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Studies done supported this fact. Researchers say that music music improves the exercise experience by making the brain interpret the signs of fatigue differently!
I know for me my ipod is key in my exercise regime, I can just feel the energy once a "good: song come on. Check out the articles below for more and don't forget to pump up the volume next time you are hitting the gym or the trails.

This Week in Sports
I don't have too much to talk about this week. I was in SF for a week and didn't really pay much attention to what was going on in the world of sports - other than the really big stuff. SF, however, is gorgeous!
Things I liked:
Things I didn't like:
Things that surprised me:
Things I liked:
- The Packers won the Superbowl. Good for Aaron Rodgers and his team, especially since so many people seemed to think he would never become anything. All in all, it was a surprisingly good game - surprising because normally the Superbowl is either really slow or a blow out.
Things I didn't like:
- Michael Vick was given a key to the city of Dallas...seriously?! Wtf Dallas, you don't have a dog killing football player of your own and you liked the idea so much that you had to go give a key to a guy who doesn't live in your city or play on your team? That just reeks of common sense - we should all follow your example.
- The Cavaliers have broken the single season losing streak record - ouch!
Things that surprised me:
- Everyone always has to have their eye on what's better, what's bigger, what's next. Well, projections for who will be in next year's superbowl are already out.
- Andy Pettitte retired. Maybe they should use his salary to pay the greedy, talent declining Derek Jeter.

52 Week Challenge: Week 6 - FAVOR-I-TEE
Congratulations to Sara Van Koningsveld for winning Week 5's Challenge "REPRESENT". Check out our facebook profile to see her in her Packers gear!
Ok so here we are week 6 and this Wednesday is national tee shirt day. Since tee shirts are what we do, we feel this is a big deal. I have a tee shirt that I have had since high school. I love it. It is soft and fits just right, so for this week's challenge . . . we want to see your "FAVOR-I-TEE".
All you have to do is take a photo of your favorite tee, we don't care who it's on or where it's hanging we just wanna see it. Post your pics by Friday 11 February 2011; 11:59 PM PST and you just might be next weeks fan of the week!

Fist Pump Friday
So in honor of the Super Bowl this week, here is Lil Wayne "Green and Yellow". We're split 50/50 in the office! But my prediction for the game is 24 - 31 PACKERS. Let's do this.

Woman of the Week: Gertrude Ederle
WOMAN OF THE WEEK
GERTRUDE EDERLE
1905 - 2003
Trudy was a German immigrant who ran a butcher shop and began to swim and break any and all records in the amateur swimming circuit. She went on to win gold at the 1924 Olympics and eventually swam the English Channel. Though not only did she set a record time for women to swim the channel, she killed the men's time by nearly two hours!
It's nice to see women go out and say, you know what I am going to do this, either you can do it with me or step aside.

Variety + Challenge = Results
When it comes to fitness, intensity and variety breed results. To most of us this is no secret, however few of us can say we have these two things in mind when we hit the gym after a hectic day of work. We are usually stressing about the day or thinking about the millions of things we still have to do before we crash into bed. I will be the first to admit its much easier to let your brain go on auto-pilot and guide your body through a workout you have done a hundred times before. The simple truth is if you're not challenging yourself each day, you are wasting your time!.
Today I wanted to share a workout with you that illustrates both of these aspects very well. I guarantee some of exercises you will see are not currently in your realm of thinking or capability. I am sure the contestants on the 'Biggest Loser' where thinking the same thing as faced their workouts each day. I encourage you to take small steps each and try new things. You will be surprised what you can do.
Let me know how it goes!

What I liked:
What I didn't like:
What surprised me:
Aaaand, this is awkward (mostly just the picture I'm posting), but I'm gearing up for the Superbowl this weekend by wearing team colors...well, team color really. Who do you think I'm rooting for?
As for my yoga challenge, today is day 13. I have missed one class due to a prior commitment and will miss the next 6 days because I'm taking myself to San Francisco for the first time for my birthday - then...back on the wagon!
- Team Lidstrom won the NHL All Star game this weekend. This excites me because I have loved the Red Wings (where Lidstrom plays) since I was a little girl growing up in Michigan.
What I didn't like:
- I am CONVINCED the NHL has NO idea what they're doing when it comes to marketing/advertising. Take it from a girl with a masters in advertising.
What surprised me:
- Unranked St. Johns beat #3 Duke leaving room for the Longhorns to take over as #3. Is Duke just falling apart now?
- When I turned on the Probowl, the NFC was just taking it to the AFC - 28-0. At least the AFC didn't end up with a big fat goose egg.
